After Uber’s exit from Singapore, carpooling app Ryde rolls out new private-hire service

New competitor on the horizon

Booking a ride on Ryde’s app

It is called RydeX…

Local carpooling mobile app Ryde announced today that they will be offering a private-hire service to customers in Singapore. The news comes after Uber’s exit from Singapore and Southeast Asia, acquired by ride-booking giant Grab.

Offering a new on-demand alternative for drivers and riders, the new service will be called RydeX. The company will also be lowering the driver’s commission rate to just 10% and the savings will be passed to commuters in the form of lower fares and to drivers in the form of higher earnings.

Drivers can start signing up to become a RydeX driver starting today via the mobile app.

Apart from offering a new private-hire service, Ryde has also partnered up with ComfortDelGro two years ago to offer taxi bookings. Other Ryde services include RydeSchool that connects parents who have children attending the same school and RydePet that matches riders with pet-friendly drivers.
