Sakura Cherry Blossoms in Japan

Flying to Japan for your holiday soon? You might be in for an unusual surprise – cherry blossoms a.k.a Sakura in the country have started blooming this month.

According to NHK Japan, the phenomenon is caused by the recent series of typhoons and warmer temperatures, resulting in the trees losing their leaves and speeding up blooming process.

This isn’t the first time it has happened but tree experts say they have never seen the phenomenon this widespread before.

There has been over 350 reports of cherry trees blooming stretching from Kyushu, Western Japan to Hokkaido in the north.
