The largest and most anticipated Chinese New Year event River HongBao 2019 (春到河畔) will be happening from 3 – 10 February this year.
The 8-day extravaganza this year will be held at its usual location – The Float @ Marina Bay.
In its bi-centennial edition to usher in the Year of the Pig, this year’s celebration will include fireworks from award-winning artists from four countries – USA, China, Italy and Australia.
Here are some examples of their works.
Australia: Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics
USA: Pyro Spectaculars Inc.
China: Tang Hua Fireworks
Italy: Parente Fireworks
There will be nightly fireworks shows throughout the event period choreographed by
globally-acclaimed pyrotechnics experts on the 3rd, 4th, 9th and 10th February and on the other four nights from 5 – 8 February presented by a local company.
Here’s the fireworks timetable from River HongBao organisers.
Besides fireworks, there’s also a new 18-metre tall God of Fortune a.k.a Caishen (财神) with a Ruyi ceremonial sceptre.
Here are some of the decorations and giant lanterns (some work-in-progress) that will be making an appearance at the site.
Visitors will be greeted with a 30-metre lighted archway at the entrance that features a creative mix of traditional motifs and modern elements.
Instagram location confirmed.
There’s even a Fortune Cats lantern.
Or make your dreams come true at the Wishing Fountain that is designed based on the iconic Fountain of Wealth in Suntec City.
Other highlights include an exhibition featuring a replica of a life-size junkboat that decorated the shores of Singapore in the early 1900s.
There’s also a carnival section with over 20 thrilling rides and games as well as more than 40 selections of comfort food.
