Edible handmade Mahjong Mooncakes now a thing in S’pore

Mid-Autumn is still some time away but food retailers are already starting to roll their unique creations of mooncakes.

Mahjong Mooncakes

Ah Kiat Frozen Food is a food retailer located in Fengshan Market in Bedok and they specialise in handmade Otah bun, yong tau foo and fishball, seafood, poultry and more but recently they have launched a new product – Mahjong Mooncakes.

According to Ah Kiat’s description, these snowskin mooncakes are handmade and have a variety of fillings including red bean, sweet potato, green tea, honeydew and more.

Also since they are freshly made, it is advisable to consume them within a few days.

There are two mahjong mooncake types to choose from, inspired by the game’s difficult winning combinations:

  • 3D Big Three Scholars Mahjong Mooncakes (大三元) – $26 per box
  • *Limited Edition* Golden Thirteen Wonders Mahjong Mooncakes (十三幺) – $28 per box

Each box consists of 16 pieces with a mixture of 5 flavours, honeydew, sweet potato, red bean, green tea and pandan bean paste.

The limited-edition mooncakes have tiles with characters embossed in gold.

Cool.

Perfect for gifting your friends and family who enjoy playing mahjong.
