The Cai Poh Hor Fun may look simple but customers are saying it tastes amazing
There’s a dish in Chinatown you will want to try, especially if you’re a foodie looking for new creations.
Poh Preserved Veg Hor Fun
Located in Chinatown Complex Food Centre along Smith Street, this hawker stall has only three dishes on the signboard and the signature dish is none other than the Cai Poh (Preserved Veg) Hor Fun.
Although the dish consists of a simple medley of ingredients including preserved radish, eggs, pork lard, hor fun (flat rice noodles) and a sprinkle of spring onions, the taste is nothing short of amazing according to customer reviews.

Customers can choose the dish to go with prawns or oysters, both priced at $6 per plate.

Online reports have pointed out that the stall owner used to be a chef at several hotels including Shangri-La, Amara and Sheraton Tower before starting out on his own and creating this dish inspired by local flavours.

The stall is also getting numerous positive reviews from customers, with some praising the delicious wok-hei taste and crispy charred parts of the dish.
There’s also a video showing how the dish is made under the skilful tossing of the wok by the stall owner.
Feeling extra hungry? You might want to order the third dish on the menu Prawn Paste Chicken (虾酱鸡) as a side which is pretty good too according to the growing list of reviews.

Poh Preserved Veg Hor Fun opens from 11am – 7pm daily except Tuesday. However, a customer who visited a couple of months back stated the stall closes after lunch which is likely due to selling out early so it’s best to drop by early to avoid disappointment.
