City Direct Bus Service 673

In a continued effort to enhance commuter convenience, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced the launch of a new City Direct Bus Service, Service 673, which will begin operation starting from Monday, 14 October 2024.

This service will operate between Punggol Way and Temasek Boulevard in the Central Business District (CBD), offering a direct route that is expected to cut down travel time for commuters in the Punggol region heading towards the city center.

The bus service is targeted at working professionals and daily commuters travelling during peak hours, providing a more efficient travel alternative compared to other existing bus routes and train services. By utilizing the expressways for a large part of the journey, Service 673 aims to reduce congestion and long travel times.

Route Overview:

  • Punggol Area Stops:
    • The service begins from Punggol Point LRT Station and covers several stops around Punggol Way, Sumang Walk, and Punggol Field.
    • Key stops include Samudera LRT Station, Twin Waterfalls, and various blocks in the Punggol region, such as Blk 259 and Blk 322.
  • CBD Area Stops:
    • In the CBD, the route includes prominent stops such as Suntec Tower 2 & 3, Bayfront Ave, and Downtown MRT.
    • It will also pass by landmarks like Marina Bay Sands, The Ritz-Carlton, and Marina Bay Financial Centre.

Operating Hours:

  • AM Peak (Weekdays, excluding Public Holidays):
    • The first bus from Punggol Point LRT Station will depart at 7:25 AM, followed by another at 7:40 AM, catering to commuters travelling into the CBD in the morning.
  • PM Peak (Weekdays, excluding Public Holidays):
    • The return journey from Suntec Tower 3 will have its first bus departing at 6:00 PM, with the last service leaving at 6:15 PM. This timing ensures that professionals finishing work in the CBD can return to Punggol efficiently.

Fare and Rewards:

As part of a limited-time promotion, passengers switching from the North East Line to Service 673 will be entitled to $1.00 off per trip. This initiative is designed to encourage more commuters to utilize the new bus service for their daily commute, helping to ease crowding on existing train services.
