Say hello to the new MacBook Pro from Apple.
The Cupertino tech giant latest flagship laptop is finally here. It’s thinner and lighter, even smaller than the current 13-inch MacBook Air. The 13-inch model amazingly weighs under 1.5kg and the 15-inch model at around 1.8kg.
Both models also get a boost in hardware with the latest Intel processor, graphics (Radeon on 15-inch) and much faster SSD storage disks configurable up to 1TB (up to 2TB on 15-inch). Apple claims brighter displays and wider colour gamut up to 25% more.
On the sides, the new MacBook Pros will come equipped with four Thunderbolt 3 ports, all capable of supporting 5K displays, data transfer up to 40Gbps and perhaps the best news of all, users can now charge the device conveniently from any of the four ports.
Macbook Pro Touch Bar
Perhaps the most innovative feature announced on the MacBook Pro is the new Touch Bar. The multi-touch touchscreen now replaces the function keys on the new laptop and allows users to control and customise buttons and gestures unique to the application.
The Touch Bar features a range of actions including quick access to commands and tools for applications (Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, djay Pro, etc.), quick type suggestions when typing or writing emails, a preview of browser tabs and so much more. On the right end of the Touch Bar hides a power button and fingerprint scanner for online payments using Apple Pay and fast-switching between different accounts.
The new MacBook Pros comes in Space Grey and Silver colours and starts at S$2,588 with Touch Bar, and from S$3,388 for the 15-inch model with Touch Bar. Strangely Apple also included a 13-inch model without the Touch Bar, possibly for users who still prefer to have the tactile function buttons. It starts at a lower price of S$2,188.
You can pre-order the MacBook Pros with Touch Bar online starting today on Apple Store Singapore and they will ship in 2-3 weeks.Learn more from Apple
