Refunds, rebookings and key dates—what to know as Jetstar Asia winds down
Jetstar Asia (3K), the Singapore-based subsidiary of the Jetstar Group, will officially cease operations on 31 July 2025.
The announcement comes after an extensive review revealed that the airline could no longer maintain its low-cost business model amid rising operational expenses and regional competition.
A Difficult Decision After Years of Challenges
In recent years, Jetstar Asia has faced significant financial pressure due to escalating supplier costs, airport fees, and aviation charges. Despite attempts to manage these issues, the challenges proved unsustainable in the long term. The decision to close was made by the airline’s shareholders following a detailed review of the business outlook.
Reduced Schedule Until End-July
Jetstar Asia flights will continue to operate on a reduced schedule through to 31 July 2025. Customers with bookings before this date may notice changes to flight timings and are encouraged to monitor their booking details closely. If affected, customers will be contacted directly by the airline.
Flights that remain unchanged will continue as planned, and passengers can proceed to the airport as normal.
Full Refunds for Post-July Bookings
All customers with bookings scheduled for travel after 31 July will receive a full refund to their original form of payment. Affected passengers will be contacted individually, but they may also use the “Manage Booking” portal to request their refund earlier if preferred.
In some cases, alternative flights with other airlines under the Qantas Group may be offered, particularly for passengers travelling on key routes such as Singapore to Bali, Manila, and Osaka.
Voucher and Membership Refunds
Jetstar has assured customers that they will be reimbursed for unused balances on Jetstar vouchers associated with Jetstar Asia flights. Those holding Club Jetstar memberships purchased in Singapore will also receive automatic refunds to their original payment cards starting in August.
Memberships or vouchers that expired prior to 11 June 2025, however, will not be eligible for refunds.
No Impact on Jetstar Airways and Jetstar Japan
The closure of Jetstar Asia does not affect other Jetstar operations. Jetstar Airways (JQ) flights between Australia and Southeast Asia, and Jetstar Japan (GK) flights, will continue to operate as usual.
