Compliance with International Safety Regulations
This change aligns with guidelines from the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations, which classify power banks as lithium batteries, known for their potential safety risks when improperly handled.
As part of the updated guidelines, passengers must carry power banks exclusively in cabin baggage; placing them in checked luggage is strictly prohibited.
Power Bank Capacity Limits
Under the revised rules, passengers can freely carry power banks with capacities up to 100Wh. Those travelling with power banks between 100Wh and 160Wh will require prior airline approval.
Commitment to Passenger Safety
Singapore Airlines emphasized that the updated policy reinforces their unwavering commitment to passenger safety, reflecting industry best practices.
The policy, first announced on 12 March 2025, underscores Singapore Airlines’ proactive approach to maintaining high safety standards, asking customers for their cooperation and understanding.
